The Great Himalayan Tour Sikkim / Darjeeling Tour

Sikkim is a landlocked Indian state located in the Himalayan Mountains. The state is bordered by Nepal to the west, China’s Tibet Autonomous Region to the north and east, and Bhutan to the east. The Indian state of West Bengal lies to the south. Sikkim is the least populous state in India and the second-smallest state after Goa. Sikkim’s capital city is Gangtok.

Day 1: Mumbai/Delhi – Kolkata ( By Flight)

Arrive Kolkata thecapitalof the Indian state ofWest Bengal. Assistance on arrival. Traditional welcome with garlanding and a complimentary stamped postcard will be handed over on arrival to post to your family/friend back home. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight

Day 2: Kolkata – Bagdogra (by flight) & Bagdogra – Kalimpong (by road) (125km/2h30 approx)
Morning- visit of Kolkata city. The erstwhile capital of British India has numerous charm to offer the visitors that still hover the golden days of the city - visit the Shaheed Minar, Eden Gardens, Akashvaani Bhawan, Howrah Station, Writers’ Building, Governor’s House, Ghats of Ganges, High Court, Maidan, Town Hall, Fort William, Race Course, Lal Dighi , Mother Terassa’s Ashram.. Later depart for Bagdogra by flight for Sikkim/ Darjeeling tour. Arrive at Bagdogra airport and continue drive towards Kalimpong . Overnight- Hotel.

Day 3: Kalimpong/Gangtok ( 80kms/ 3hrs)
Breakfast at hotel and visit the local markets/handicraft in Kalimpong and drive towards the Gangtok along the Teesta River. The river then forms the border between West Bengal and Sikkim before joining theBrahmaputraas a tributary inBangladesh.Evening stroll MG road in Gangtok. Overnight- Hotel.

Day 4: Gangtok
Breakfast at hotel.Visit Tashi View point, Ganesh Tok and Hanuman Tok, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom. It is advisable to spend time at tibetology and visit Enchey Monastery . Overnight Hotel.

Day 5: Gangtok / Rumtek(23Km/35 min approx)/Gangtok
After breakfast, depart for an excursion to Tshangu lake. Further 10kms from Tshangu lake where the legendary Baba Mandir is situated. Return back to Gangtok, have lunch. After lunch visit the popular Buddhist Rumtek monastery and one can circumambulate around the monasteries. . Overnight- Hotel

Day 6: Rumtek /Pellingvia Thimi Tea Estate(114km/2h30 approx)
Breakfast at Hotel. Proceed to Pelling, the second biggest tourist destination in the state after Gangtok. En-route visiting the famous tourist places Char Dham and Samdruptse Hill in Namche. It offers beautiful view of Kangchendzonga Himalayas and surrounding ranges. Pelling’s serene environment is perfect for nice walk along the misty track through pine forest , a heaven for photography to remember for life.. Overnight -Hotel.

Day 7: Pelling
Morning visit Pemayangtse Monastery . Rest of the day at leisure in the lap of nature. Activities available are white – water rafting on the Rangit, Kayaking, promotional trekking, mountain biking and bird watching. Evening enjoy the local folk dance. Overnight- Hotel


Day 8: Pelling / Darjeeling (by road) (75h/2hrs approx)
After breakfast proceed  to Darjeeling. The exciting journey runs through the winding road cutting across the valleys , hills and villages. Take a refreshing break at the view point near Melli and watch the magnificent bird eye view of the confluence of both the rivers. The view of the entire surrounding widens you through the clouds and forests. Stop a while on the way the scenic beauty and take some pictures. Overnight-Hotel.

Day 9: Darjeeling
After breakfast, take a  toy train ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom and back for 1.3hrs. The train starts at 9.45AM. After toy train ride, visit Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park  to see some rare collection of high altitude Himalayan species like Snow leopard, clouded Leopard, Siberian Tiger, Red Panda and many rare mammal and birds in the nature surroundings. Visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute  to see the priceless collection of mountaineering gears used by legendary climbers in the Himalayas. After lunch  visit Rock garden, a garden fully made out of rock.. Evening- Walk around the ‘Lover’s Road’ and enjoy the Shrubbery Park on top of the Mall hill. Overnight- Hotel

Day 10: Darjeeling / Kalimpong (50km/1h30 approx)
Early morning approx. 4 am  visit the Tiger Hill before the break of dawn to see the sunrise over the Mt. Everest, the highest mountain peak in the world ( subject to clear weather). After breakfast drive to Kalimpong. Visit Tea garden enroute, where one can see the cultivation of world famous tea , its plantation , field work   and preparation in a tea factory..   Onwards drive to Kalimpong (4,100 ft.).. The Great Teesta accompanies you as you take the winding uphill road from Sevok. Check in at hotel. Free evening for meeting  the local traditional crafts in the downtown market. Overnight- Hotel

Day 11: Kalimpong / Bagdogra (by road ) (75km/2hrs approx)/ Delhi /Mumbai ( by flight)
Morning visit the flower nurseries of Kalimpong (this small town is the leading flower producer of India).  Also visit  the 300 years old Zang Dhok Palri Phodang  monastery. Picturesque Delo Top and Durpin Dara top for panoramic view of the Himalayas. The first phase of the journey passes through the dense forest of Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary . After early lunch, get transferred to Bagdogra airport for flight to further destination.
